# Onboarding

## Basic Tasks

### Start of School Year

A club is not complete without its members, It is important that you recruit as many people as possible at the start of the year. Publicity is key, most people don't join because they dont know what robotics is and that we exsit. **UNLESS YOU HAVE GOOD REASON** Stay away from applications for now (Good reason would be that demand is way too high).

#### Social Media

Make multiple posts to get peoples attention. Below is an example

#### Posters

Posters are a great way to ensure that our club is known within the school. QR codes are not too effective but ensure you have one with a written url next to it. Below is an example.

#### Announcments

By far the best way of recruiting people is announcments. People need to be reminded when club meetings are and google classroom just does not cut it. Make sure to announce your first couple club meetings a week in advance. More on announcments later

#### First Meeting

As will be mentioned later, keep meetings away from being a lecture/5th class. **NO ONE** wants that! Instead answer...

1. What is robotics (Short)
2. What is the current game?
3. Why Join (BECAUSE IT'S FUN!)
   1. Don't just state it, make and activity to prove it

### Announcments

Announcment slips may be grabed from the office, or check in with Ms. Marie or Ms. Chan as they might have some. Fill out the annoucment, and drop it off in the office before the end of the day.

### Meetings and Member retention

As mentioned about **NO ONE** wants a fifth class, so don't make the club meeting one. Think about why, as a member, you showed up. **DO NOT** force anyone to show up, this will only give you you bad candidates. Also **DO NOT** give different treatment to people who don't show up. You probably showed up because it was at least somewhat fun.

**GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE**, regardless of dedication, and techinical ability. If they enjoy robotics they will learn faster than the others.&#x20;

#### Budget

1. **ALWAYS** use all of your money, you need to justify having it
2. At the start of the year, fill out the budget form, I, Aaron have requested $3000 for the 2024 and 2025 school years. Ask me for the spreadsheet if needed.
3. Sponsorships are important, focus more on them, I, Aaron have not done this enough
